About the project
Far & Away was founded by Jacky and Albert — avid travellers who grew tired of mass production and couldn't find high-quality goods at home that matched what they discovered abroad. A visit to a ceramics artisan in Portugal sparked the idea: bring ethically sourced, sustainably crafted pieces from makers around the world directly to customers. They launched a Kickstarter in August 2019, won the backing of 300+ supporters, and built a brand around the belief that every product should have a story.
The challenge
A single-currency, English-only store losing international customers at checkout. No localised pricing, no regional payment methods, and currency confusion generating daily support emails. The brand's artisanal story — the whole reason customers chose them over Amazon — was buried in the store rather than front and centre.
What we built
Implemented Shopify Markets with automatic geo-detection, localised currency display per region, and language switching. Built a currency selector in the header and added local payment methods (iDEAL for NL, SOFORT for DE). Rebuilt the product pages to lead with each item's origin story, maker background, and sourcing credentials.
